Deer Chaser July 16, 2007 Kenneth J. Patti (North Carolina) 19 out of 22 found this review helpful
This product is all that it is advertised to be...prior to using Deer Chaser, the flowers in our yard were reduced to stumps because of the deer problem... We are not supporters of hunting and killing deer or any other animal for that matter. The Deer Chaser is a great humane alternative to controlling the damage done by these otherwise beautiful creatures. Our yard now looks great with tons of flowers and no more damage done by foraging deer. A great product worth its price.

This thing works! Last year the deer ate my garden off at the top of the ground over and over agian, but now there is not even one single deer track in my garden.
Question Bad Reviews July 6, 2010 Robert P. Query (Aylett, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have 2 P3 Deer Chasers purchased in 2009, and so far they have kept deer out of our summer garden in 2009, and so far this year (2010),even though we have witnessed up to 4-5 large deer passing through near where we have it planted. I don't understand the "Bad Reviews" except maybe the choice of NPR as a radio station is a bad one...perhaps deer are liberals, but we use other stations, even if not "talk radio", and both Country & Western and some Christian stations seem to be disliked by deer as they stay away. Battery run-down is a bit fast as we set ours up for the longest play time, so will be changing that to less "on time" so they will re-trigger on and off if anything gets near them, and this should increase battery life. Our deer problem is severe now as they came in last winter and ate shrubbery due to heavy snows etc., so we are now going to get up to 7 more to use around the house during the winter months. We also use "Liquid Fence" but this only holds deer back a short time, and the P3 Deer Chasers when properly set-up seem to scare the critters away. By all means I would suggest not using any Public Radio station as the sound source, but go for stations with some talk, and lots of upbeat music like we have used.
Works great July 7, 2009 J. Farrell Keeps the deer at bay. We use it to act as a gate guard, keeping deer from passing through even if the gate is not closed.
Works as advertised August 12, 2010 Mac I haven't had the opportunity to test it on deer, but it works pretty much as advertised. There's a radio and a light. If you move in its field of vision they both turn on, and it seems to be loud enough. In hot weather the swaying of the plants sometimes triggers mine, but that's probably because I have the sensitivity set really high in an effort to scare raccoons and groundhogs too. What they don't tell you in the owners manual:
* It does not continue to monitor motion after being activated. For example, if you're in the garden working and enjoying the music, it will cut off and back on at the end of each time cycle rather than resetting the time cycle if you move while it's on. This broken pattern probably improves its performance as a deer repellent.
* Adjustment only rotates vertical--not horizontal.
* Radio will not play "static." If the station is too weak it will be silent or tune automatically to the next station. It can be difficult to get the radio to tune to a specific station, and is probably easier to just go with whatever it finds. Mine has drifted a few times when I did not press the "tune" button, but it seems to like our local 100kw country music station.
